What we do and how we do it

The key to successful youth ministry is the ability to be contemporary and relevant while living true to Biblical absolutes! The Youth Department of Antioch Baptist Church believes in and promotes absolutes for young people, like:

Bible Study

Scripture tells us to be ready always to give an answer for the reason of our hope. Young people need to know the Bible, not just about it. The major and minor doctrines of the Fundamental Christian faith will be taught. We will provide a complete Biblical curriculum including survey, topical study and an in-depth look at doctrine. Led by the Holy Spirit, will not back down from current events, situations, or the modern “ anti-Christian ” world-views.

Daily Devotions (a.k.a. “ Daily Devos ” )

The Psalmist said, "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord." Helping young people develop the godly habit of daily getting alone with God for quiet time and prayer is a priority. We provide a simple tool to guide youth through this special time with the Lord.

Scripture Memory

"These words which I command thee this day shall be in thine heart." One of the greatest spiritual weapons available to youth today is scripture memory. Arming young people through a systematic memory program is part of our basic ministry.

Christian Service

Christ, Himself, did not come to be served, but to serve. When young people have a consistent intake of the Word of God, then there needs to be an outlet whereby they can evangelize and edify. We will incorporate a complete approach to ministry and provide diversified ideas to motivate youth in ministry. As a result, our young people will have many years worth of opportunities to discover and develop their spiritual gifts. Through simple service that does not seek payment in return, our young people will learn to put the needs others first.

Purposeful Biblical Discipleship

We will address one of the greatest needs of the next generation-personal accountability and daily discipline. We will strive to be transparent in building and nurturing relationships centered on the Biblical model of Christ and his inner-circle of Disciples. This is fundamental in helping cultivate our young people for full-time Christian service and lay leadership in the local church.

Personal and Corporate Evangelism

The great commission given by Christ Jesus in Mark 16:15, remains in effect. It is our solemn duty to teach our children and young people the truths in Ephesians 2:8&9. Our young people also must be trained to “ sow seed(s) ” of a Saving Gospel in practical and modern ways to reach the lost of every generation.

It is our sincere desire to do the following:

  • bring unsaved teens to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ
  • encourage teens to be baptized by immersion
  • help teens become grounded in the Bible
  • teach teens to recognize & respond to the ministry of the Holy Spirit
  • teach teens the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith
  • show teens how to develop life-long friendships through discipleship
  • train teens to share their faith on a daily basis
  • show teens how to put others needs before their own
  • train teens to create and keep a daily routine of prayer and study
  • expose teens to ministry opportunities
  • help teens discover and exercise their God-given spiritual gifts
  • challenge teens to attend Bible college
  • challenge teens to dedicate their lives to full-time ministry
  • challenge teens to remain sexually pure until marriage
  • train teens to seek Godly influences in media & relationships
  • train teens to be good stewards of their priceless resources
  • teach teens to seek the Lord's perfect direction for their lives
  • and to strive for overall "CHRISTlikeness"
